Press Release
Auckland, New Zealand – Vesper Marine, a leading manufacturer of innovative marine safety products, announced today that Matthew Forbes has been appointed Sales Director for Vesper Marine - Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Matthew is a seasoned marine electronics professional with previous experience in technical sales, business development and general management roles with Navman, Fusion, Garmin and Dometic. He launched Fusion in Europe and played a significant role in their growth.
Jeremy Singleton, Global Sales Director Vesper Marine says, “Matthew has come on board at an exciting time for our company. He will provide a massive boost to our sales reach across EMEA by providing outstanding support to new and existing distributors and dealers. With Matthew driving the European sales efforts we will certainly widen our exposure and demand throughout Europe for current and future products.”
Based on the south coast of England, Matthew will be working closely with Vesper Marine’s independent rep group, IMDS (International Manufacturers Direct Sales) in the promotion and growth of the brand. Matthew says “I’m delighted to join Vesper Marine at this time of rapid growth. We have an amazing track record for leading markets with incredible products. The current product range is very impressive, and the future roadmap is going to revolutionize the industry.”
Vesper Marine’s smartAIS transponders differ from other AIS transponders because they have built-in safety alarms that proactively warn boaters of potential collision situations, a dragging anchor or a man overboard. With their WiFi capability, users can remotely control their smartAIS from anywhere on board using a smartphone, tablet or smartwatch.
Matthew is passionate about sailing and has sailed in both the Dinghy and Yacht series in the UK. “My biggest sailing adventure was being part of a 3-person crew sailing a 30ft 1980 Beneteau from New York to Bermuda,” he says.
