The WatchMate is definitely a slick device. It's great to be able to track nearshore Southbound ships and even Northbound ships in the Gulf Stream that are 20 miles out. Compared to radar info, especially in a bouncing sea, the WatchMate data is rock solid.

What Customers Are Saying About the AISWatchMate...
We think about you often – especially when we use our WatchMate. What a great product! You will be pleased to know that it has been working out well for us. Last summer while making a night crossing from Tunisia to Sicily, it really came in handy. The major shipping lanes from the Suez Canal to Gibraltar run right through those waters and it is teeming with commercial ships. At one point we were tracking about 30 large ships (some oil tankers were over 900 feet long!), all within a 12-mile radius from us. Actually, there were many more ships in the area, but we only concentrated on those within a 12-mile radius. Frankly, we would have been in a panic if not for our WatchMate. As it was, we were able to slow down, speed up, and/or change course and know within seconds if we were out of danger. It was also comforting to know that we could hail a particular ship by name, should the need arise. Fortunately, it didn’t come to that, because we were able to plan and execute our maneuvers with confidence, thanks to our WatchMate. We have shown our WatchMate system to several other cruisers, and a fellow who occasionally has to singlehand his 50-foot catamaran e-mailed us to say that he subsequently bought one after seeing ours. Hopefully, a few others did, too, even if they didn’t mention it to us. And if they didn’t, it’s their loss, because we wouldn’t be without our WatchMate in the Med. There are simply too many large ships sailing these waters.

Got the WatchMate and hooked it up. Fantastic! My first reaction was dismay at the fact that you don't include a written manual and instead just the one on the CD that came in the box. The last thing that I want to do off-shore is boot up a computer to look something up! But, in the long run, it is so intuitive that a manual is not really required. Great, great job! Congrats on a great product.
